About B+B Belgravia & The Studios@82
A Brief History...
The old Chesham House Hotel was discovered by the newly formed B+B Belgravia Ltd early in 2002. The hotel was in Ebury Street, Belgravia on The Grosvenor Estate and tenders were being sought by the Estate from prospective tenants, who had the vision and experience to create and manage an innovative product, which would complement their ongoing initiative to upgrade the area.
B+B Belgravia Ltd was selected by The Estate for both the uniqueness of their concept and the depth their operating expertise. The acquisition was completed on 29thJuly 2002 and the business was run as The Chesham House Hotel for 9 months before closing for a complete restructuring in April 2003.
The renovation programme was complex. The building is grade II listed and the challenge was to maintain the integrity of the commercial concept whilst satisfying the stringent requirements laid down by The Estate, The Planning Office, Buildings Control and English Heritage. The B+B Belgravia finally opened on 2nd September 2004.
The property has been transformed from an old-fashioned, tired, musty bed and breakfast where the bathrooms were "down the corridor or on a different floor!" to being a light and airy, modern and contemporary, customer friendly, professionally run "home from home," by a team of experienced hotel operators.
B+B Belgravia was awarded a 4-diamond (AA accredited) grading shortly after the opening in early 2005. The success of the improvements is evident from a wealth of positive guest feedback on our guest diary, the high percentage of referrals, return customers and the level of media interest.
Since opening in 2004 the concept has been so successful that additional space was sought in response to the strong demand in London for family rooms and studio style accommodation. The Allison House was acquired in 2006 at 82 Ebury Street which was run for over a year. Then with the support of The Grosvenor Estate a full refurbishment program commenced in 2009 to create The Studios@82.
